Freight Forwarder - Air Export Operations (City of Industry/Hawthorne)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Air Export Operations Specialist to join our dynamic freight forwarding team in the City of Industry or Hawthorne, California area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the entire air export process, from booking and documentation to ensuring compliance with all domestic and international regulations. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills to provide exceptional service to our clients and ensure the timely and cost-effective shipment of their cargo.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Shipment Coordination: Manage all aspects of air export shipments, including quoting, booking with airlines, and coordinating pick-ups and deliveries.Documentation and Compliance: Prepare, review, and process all necessary export documentation with a high degree of accuracy. This includes, but is not limited to, Air Waybills (AWB), House Air Waybills (HAWB), commercial invoices, packing lists, shipper's letters of instruction (SLI), and certificates of origin.AES Filing: Ensure timely and accurate filing of Electronic Export Information (EEI) through the Automated Export System (AES).Regulatory Adherence: Maintain a thorough understanding of and ensure strict compliance with all relevant regulations, including those set forth by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).Client and Vendor Relations: Liaise effectively with clients, overseas agents, carriers, and other vendors to provide shipment status updates and resolve any issues that may arise. Foster strong relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.Rate Negotiation and Quoting: Obtain competitive rates from airlines and trucking companies to provide timely and cost-effective quotes to clients.Data Management: Accurately enter and maintain all shipment data in our freight forwarding software system.Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve any shipment discrepancies, delays, or other challenges to ensure a smooth and efficient export process.Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: [Insert number, e.g., 2-3] years of direct experience in air export operations within a freight forwarding environment.Location: Reside within a commutable distance of the City of Industry or Hawthorne, CA.Regulatory Knowledge: A strong working knowledge of U.S. export regulations, including TSA and AES requirements. IATA DG certification is a plus.Software Proficiency: Experience with freight forwarding software is highly desirable. Familiarity with systems such as CargoOne, GoFreight, etc. is a significant advantage. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for corresponding with clients, vendors, and internal teams.Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are critical.Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems effectively and efficiently.Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.Preferred Qualifications:
